Bring the Mulvane Art Museum to schools in Topeka and the surrounding area! Our staff will present images, educational content, and a guided art activity—right in your classroom.

Choose one of our exhibition-related lessons:

Around the Way Folk (K–6th grade): Paint portraits inspired by Around the Way Folk: Saints in Uncommon Places. This guided tempera stick activity includes a short lesson about Harold Smith's art.

Concerning the Musical in Art (2nd–9th grade): Learn how music can be captured in paint and pastel. This guided art activity is inspired by Rita Blitt’s work in Concerning the Musical in Art, and includes a pre-set playlist of classical music.

In This Place: American Land (4th–12th grade): Learn about visual narration and composition through a guided collage/mixed media activity. Inspired by In This Place: American Land, this lesson explores how we communicate our connection to the land we live on.

Contact us to schedule an outreach visit. Please have multiple date possibilities. We are able to lead activities with up to 25 students at a time, and a maximum of two classroom sessions per day.
